If there’s one thing which separates successful business people from the losers, it’s this. Successful people never try to be jacks of all trades.

What does that mean exactly? It means that you never try to be a one man band in any business. Nobody can be an expert at everything, so don’t even try to attempt to be one.

Instead, genuinely smart people surround themselves with others who have skills and talents which complement their own areas of expertise, and they use them very effectively. Everyone loves to do what they’re good at, and they love getting recognition for it too. So why try to teach yourself everything, and go through all those learning curves? All you’re doing is wasting time, when help is readily available.

Leave it to others to design your websites and splash pages, and manage your member list for you. If you’re going to be the boss of your own program, then BE the boss, period. You’re the one with the ideas and creativity, so don’t try to be one of the gang – that won’t get you anywhere. Your members need to be able to look up to you for inspiration, motivation, and direction, so give them that.

Realising your dreams is limited only by your imagination. Just do it.

If you genuinely want to turn your life around in 2012 then I’d strongly recommend that you do two things. Find a reliable program, and then stick with it no matter what. Believe in yourself, because if you don’t then you can hardly expect other people to believe in you. Here are two links I’d like you to look at:

How to build a successful online business.

I’d like to share with you the real reason that you aren’t making any progress with the program you’re in at present, and it isn’t any big secret. You simply aren’t getting enough traffic, and consequently you aren’t getting any exposure.

You can read all the ebooks you like on the subject of optimizing your site and driving traffic to it, however remember that everyone else is doing exactly the same thing. What you need is a way of making yourself stand out from the crowd. Advertising is the very lifeblood of any business, so what are you doing to make sure that you get yourself seen? In online marketing nobody is interested in what your website is about – you need to sell yourself.

How do you do that? If your program has a member forum then log in there at least once a day. Answer questions, submit posts, and contribute in any way you can – that’s what will get you noticed, and establish you as someone who is proactive and gets things done. Share your experiences and your passions with your team, and they’ll come to trust you as a knowledgeable source of help and advice – nobody can possibly know who you are or what you do if you’re invisible!

And if you notice any typos or grammatical errors on your program’s website, email the owners and tell them about them, together with helpful suggestions for correcting them. That will achieve two things:

It lets the owners know that you’re a serious person who is dedicated to their program, and
It may open up new opportunities for you.

I didn’t get to be the owner of my own programs by hiding in the shadows – I made sure that everyone knew who I am and what kind of things I’m good at, and from there I received invitations to contribute more than average members. And once I’d established trust, I was invited to become an Administrator – you can do exactly the same if you put your mind to it.

Taking care of your downline.

I’ve been in hundreds of programs over the last 15 years, and do you know the two biggest mistakes that people make which cause them to fail?

They don’t treat their online business seriously.
They treat their downline – if they’re lucky enough to have one – as “prospects” rather than real people.

Just because a business is conducted online doesn’t make it any less “real” than a bricks and mortar business: you still have a real product or a service to sell even if you don’t have a high street store. So if you treat it as a game and expect customers to just turn up and buy things from you, then you’ll be seriously disappointed! You need to let the world know who you are, and what it is you’re selling.

Also when it comes to your downline, why would you treat them any differently than you’d like to be treated yourself? When someone new joins a new program they’re very uncertain about what they’re supposed to do, and they may not have much internet experience. That’s where you need to step in and give them a warm and friendly welcome, and at least in the early days follow up with them at least once a week and preferably twice a week.

It just isn’t enough to send them a training manual and leave them to it – let them know that you’re there for them if they have any problems or questions, and if they do? Go the extra mile to help them. Open up a free private chatroom if need be, and walk them through the steps to get whatever it is set up correctly.

And while you’re doing that, get to know a little about them. You don’t want to go delving into their private lives, but ask some general questions and find out what their hobbies and passions are, what their goals in life are, and what areas they feel they need some extra help in.

Always remember that you aren’t just their “upline” who gets a commission from them – be a real mentor to them, and they’ll love you for it and follow you wherever you want to take them.

Collective Recruiting.

My friend and business partner Sam Byars from Fort Worth, Texas created the concept of Collective Recruiting – a system so logical that multiple other teams have now copied it with varying degrees of success.

Sam faced exactly the same kind of problems all of us do: even if we do manage to build a downline, how do we keep them? Because the reality is that if your downline can’t do what you’ve done and get their own signups, they’ll drop out within a month or two: it’s call the attrition rate.

So Sam came up with a very innovative concept: if your downline can’t do it for themselves, do it for them. Why would you do that? It’s quite simple really – if you help to make your downline successful, they will make you rich.

And when that person acquired 6 signups he stepped aside, the next person moved up, and everyone began to promote for them. And as the team continued to grow there were more & more people promoting for the person in the #1 position, and it picked up momentum.

And when you combine it with members moving new signups under their downline, you have a very powerful formula which guarantees everyone’s success. How to Power Surf.

Surfing traffic exchanges to build up credits can be very boring, so here’s a way to speed up the process so that you can maximise your time.

Power Surfing is simply having multiple browser tabs open so that you can surf in as many traffic exchanges at once as you feel comfortable with. With practice you can handle 12 or more at once.

Log into your first TE, start surfing, and then open a second browser and do the same. The difference now is that instead of waiting for the timer to count down you can click through to the next site and then move on to the next tab to do likewise.

You can now build up credits at least 10 to 12 times faster than before. Another tip is to check how many links you’re allowed to have in each TE, and submit your link more than once – be sure that your credits are being used up quickly though as there’s no point in having your link in a TE where your ad is only seen once a week or less. This depends on multiple factors, such as how many members they have, or how many paid ads they have waiting to be shown.

Why Autoresponders are a waste of your time.

We live in an increasingly fast-paced world where everyone is in a hurry and wants results immediately. For that reason alone autoresponders have outlived their usefulness, however there are more reasons for avoiding them.

First, to be compliant with anti-spam laws your AR has to send out a verification email which your prospects will have to click on to confirm that they agree to receive your email series, and as lots of people use junk mail addresses for online work the chances are the verification message will end up in their spam folder.

Secondly, your prospect has to actually log into their account and look for your email, by which time it could easily have been pushed off the first page by other emails. Even assuming they do find it and click on the link, consider what happens next.

Most autoresponders send out your series 24 hours apart, and so it will be the next day before your prospect receives your first message, and it’s likely they’ll have forgotten all about your opportunity by then. Do you see how inefficient and clumsy this is?

A much smarter way to work is to have all of your information right on your website advert where the viewer can read it while you have their attention: not 24 hours later!

Our own research has shown that while lots of people will sign up in a heartbeat to any program which is free to join, the ones who are serious about finding a work from home opportunity want as much information as they can find – so give it to them while they’re on your site. This is as simple as having a hyperlink to your information and signup pages, and you can learn how to do this by doing a search: it takes only minutes, and will get you far higher signup rates than any autoresponder.

One of THE very best free system scanners I’ve ever found is Deep Care – grab the free edition here: http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,64954/description.html

Beware of “free” system scanners which do run a full scan and report problems, but then they ask to you buy their program to clean up any problems. This really is 100% free, and it has the most effective registry cleaner and defragmenter I’ve ever seen. I highly recommend this.

Speeding up your PC.

One of the simplest things you can do to speed up a PC is to remove dust which causes overheating. Switch off, remove the casing, and using a compressed air can blow away as much as you can see – it’s best to do this outside, and never use commercial cleaners on the components. If you don’t have a can of compressed air you can use a vacuum and a soft paintbrush.

Next, it pays to Defragment your computer every so often. Because of the way your PC writes data to the hard drive, various bits of information end up in different sectors which make it take longer to find. Running Defragment tidies things up and organises things much better. Alsom to avoid duplication Windows often only uses one instance of shared files called DLL files – Dynamic Link Libraries.

To do a system cleanup click Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Defragment Your Hard Drive. Alternatively click Start and type defrag into the search box.

How to use Safelists effectively.

By law it’s illegal to send spam or junk mail to people you don’t know, so the way around this is to subscribe to one or more safelists. These are programs where you can advertise your opportunities in return for agreeing to accept emails from other members.

As you won’t want junk mail coming into your personal account it’s a good idea to open at least one or two junk mail accounts. GoogleMail {Gmail} is perfect for this as it gives you unlimited space and it’s more tolerant of mass emails.

From there you need to set up a series of templates with your ad, however I don’t personally recommend using autoresponders. For one thing people need to click on a verification link, and this often ends up in their junk folders plus by the time they receive it they’re probably forgotten what it was about. You want to capture their attention while they’re on your page.
